MoE changes school calendar; Announces new dates.
Ministry of Education, MoE changes school calendar; In a circular on November 7, Education PS Julius Jwan stated that schools will go back to the calendar that was changed in 2020 by former Education CS, George Magoha.
All students are expected to report to school on January 23 and close on April 21 after 13 weeks of term one.
The second term will afterwards begin on May 8 and end on August 11.
Thereafter, Students will take a three-day half-term break between June 29 and July 2, proceed to the end of term two holiday between August 12 and August 27 before reopening for the third term.
2023’s third term will start on August 28 until November 3, with primary school pupils sitting for their KCPE exams for four days between November 6 and November 9.
Form four candidates, will write their KCSE exams between November 10 and December 1, that is per the new circular.
Additionally, term dates for students in teachers’ training colleges across the country were changed.
Training colleges, whose first terms started on August 29 ending December 2, will start their second term on January 23 2023, until April 21.
They will take a two weeks break in April 2023 instead of the usual four weeks as the ministry adjusts back to a normal schedule.
Term two will run for 13 weeks that is between January 23 and April 21, 2023, before the students proceed on a two-week break from April 22 and May 7, 2023.
Term three will begin on May 8, 2023, and end on August 11, 2023, before a three-week holiday between August 12, 2023, and September 1, 2023.
