Nyeri women rep rejects president’s job offer; says its lower than her expectations.
Rehab Mukami, Nyeri women rep rejects President Ruto’s job offer.
She argued that the offer was lower than her expectations and she deserved a better position.
Mukami added that Nyeri deserves better in that the slot did not match the support Ruto received in the county during the August General Election.
Mukami said,”I was offered the chair of the Welfare Committee. I don’t take it lightly, as I don’t think I am ready for that role. ”
“Nyeri deserves better, and you know Nyeri delivered, and I fought so hard,” Mukami argued.
Mukami further revealed that the president had promised her a role in the parliament service commission contrary to what she has been allocated.
Mukami said,” Initially, I was fighting for Parliamentary Service Commission, and the President himself had promised me that seat. I was alone when fighting for that position. Everyone else was battling for the governor’s seat.”
The welfare slot appointed to Kawira caters for the members of parliament needs outside the Parliament.
It supports members who are faced with unfortunate circumstances such as bereavement, an illness or facing other personal issues.
Mukami’s grievances comes after Kenya kwanza met early october , to discuss nomination of members to various committees.
Others who were appointed to various committees are Kiharu MP, Ndindi Nyoro as the chair of the Budget and Appropriation Committee.
Didmus Barasa, Kimilili member of parliament, was proposed to chair the Transport and Infrastructure Committee.
