Busia senator, Okiya Omtatah clarifies joining Ruto’s camp.
The National Reconstruction Alliance party leader, Omtatah comes out to shed light on joining Ruto’s Kenya kwanza.
Omtatah stated that his party ideologies did not align with those of Kenya kwanza and he has not entered into any type of agreement with Kenya kwanza.
He also said that he is willing to work with the new government since its the rule of the land.
He said,”We are going to work with the government of the day where it is faithful to the laws and Constitution of Kenya. And we are not joining Kenya Kwanza.”
Okiya further stated that if Azimio la Umoja has ideologies that will serve the nation well, he is ready to support the coalition.
He said,”After discussing with my party members, we have agreed we maintain our autonomy. This is where we stand. If Azimio has an agenda that serves the country, we will support it.”
This comes after Okiyah Omtatah voted in Amason Kingi as the senate speaker. Okiyah defended his decision saying he participated in the voting process because Azimio’s Kalonzo Musyoka dropped bid on the speaker post.
He said,” I looked at the CVs and I saw that Kingi had a track record having served as an MP, minister and governor. Plus I saw that (Azimio walking out) was a situation of wasting time.”
The mass movement to Kenya kwanza has raised eyebrows in the past few days.
Azimio la Umoja deputy principal, Martha Karua came out to say that this is a plot by the president elect to oppress the opposition.
She said,” This is a deliberate and sustained offensive to decimate the opposition and return the country to a de facto one-party state.”
