Police arrest woman scamming Kenyans millions in Dream Canada Jobs.
Police arrest woman scamming Kenyans by promising them life changing job opportunities in Canada.
One victim reported,”She told us to send Ksh10,000 for medical, the first time she came. Then another Ksh20,000 for passport facilitation.”
“The rest, she asked, to be sent through mobile money. When we sent the money, I asked her the name of their company. She declined to answer my phone calls from that day,”the victim added.
What raised eyebrows is the fact that most of her victims were said to come from the same area, Isena, in Kisii County.
The victims travelled to Nairobi to follow up on the case, that is when they realized, they had lost their hard-earned money.
One narrated,“She came home and lied that she takes people abroad. She lied to my parents that she can take me to Canada. My parents sold land and gave her ksh. 400,000 . I have stayed almost three years at home hoping to travel,”
Immediately after receiving the money, the woman disappears, no where to be found and no refunds were given to the victims.
Police have launched an investigation on the case. Notably, a similar incident happened at Uasin Gishu, where several were promised jobs abroad but never succeeded.
A report was published, where it was detailed how the possible scandal transpired. In 2021, notable leaders popularised the recruitment agency, which turned out to be a con scheme.
