President Ruto and County Gov’t of Nairobi to hire 11,000 youth in the kazi mtaani initiative.
In his address at Jamhuri celebrations today, President Ruto and County of Nairobi Governor,Johnson Sakaja stated that 11, 000 youth will be hired in the kazi mtaani initiative.
He stated,”We will work with the government of Nairobi towards the greening of our city. Sakaja and I have agreed to hire 11,000 young people; those that were working under the old kazi mtaani.
The youths will be part of the green army, that will plant trees all over Nairobi County, as a step to arrest rainfall and mitigate drought.
He further urged other county governors, to take up the challenge, and fuel the program forward.
Additionally, the head of state, commended the youth for challenging themselves and joining the online platforms to empower and build themselves.
He stated,” I have spoken directly to Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Whatsapp and Instagram, to monetise content for our digital entrepreneurs that will exponentially multiply incomes and create employment opportunities for others.
“I am impressed and encouraged by the power of monetisation and remote jobs. This is the way to the future,” he added.
He also congratulated Nelly Cheboi for being crowned as the CNN hero of the year for creating laboratories for kids to empower themselves in the digital world.
He stated,”We congratulate Cheboi for creating computer labs for Kenyan children to access the opportunities in the digital world. Congratulations Nelly for connecting and Inspiring thousands of Kenyan children.”
