President Ruto announces hiring of TVET trainers; Speaking today at Kisii National Polytechnic, the Head of State highlighted that the government is in need of more TVET trainers.
He stated that 50 out of the 1300 will get to teach at the Kisii national polytechnic.
He stated,”Most of you teachers are paid by the college. I would like to announce that we are hiring 1,300 TVET teachers, and we will ensure that 50 of them will come to teach in this institution.”
Requirements
Anyone willing to work as a tutor must have a Diploma or a Degree in the technical courses being taught in the institutions.
TVET director general stated,”One of the things the Authority has developed to ensure the delivery of job ready graduates is the development of Trainer Qualification Framework, a proposed set of guidelines designed to be used during training, recruitment and maintenance of quality trainers in both public and private TVET institutions.”
President Ruto further stated that the polytechnic will be one of the beneficiaries of the digital transformation project countrywide.
He stated,” We will convert our TVET institutions into digital academic organisations, and Kisii National Polytechnic is going to be one of them.”
“In the phase one, we will distribute computers in 100 TVET institutions, and ensure that every academic organisation has a digital laboratory,” Ruto added.
He cited that through this digital transformation, many young people trained in tech, will secure themselves jobs.
He stated,” By the time I’ll be coming back to Kisii, I expect to be told that 1,000 young people have been employed using the new computers that the government shall have distributed.”
