President Ruto explains launching the same road project twice in 5 years.
President Ruto explains launching the same road project twice; Through the statehouse spokesperson, Hussein Mohammed, he explained that the road project was delayed because of the handshake between the former president and Raila Odinga, that sidelined him from the government.
He highlighted that only half a kilometre (500 meters) was constructed since its launch in November 2018 and went ahead to outline new timelines for its delivery.
The commander in chief revealed that 30 kilometres of the road would be constructed in 10 months, this will be a great benefit to residents.
He explained,”We started the road in Captain and it stalled because of the handshake that was there. Half a kilometre of this road took five years to build but I promise that this 30-kilometre section will only take 10 months and I have told the contractor that.”
His explanation comes after an uproar from citizens. He cited that the office of the deputy president, Was denied access to funds that were supposed to complete the mega road project.
He stated,”During last year’s election campaigns, President Ruto promised to complete all stalled projects, including roads. During the ‘Handshake’ (2018-2022), many projects he launched were deliberately denied funding even though they were in the government’s programme.”
“This was to frustrate the then Deputy President and his bid for the presidency,”the statement added.
The road project was first launched in November 2018, it was supposed to cover 55 kilometres stretching from Captain to Ol Kalou Town.
