The head of state, President Ruto to commission a 1 Billion project in Kisumu county.
The project was yesterday approved by the cabinet, and highlighted the need to establish structures for the sustainable use of Kenya’s maritime resources.
The cabinet meeting arrived at a decision that, the centre will facilitate training, research, innovation, and best methods in Fisheries and Aquaculture through demonstrations and incubations.
The Kabonyo seminal project will also include coming up of a Nile Perch Technology and Innovation Centre, an Aquaculture Resource Centre, and the Kenya Fishing School.
State house reported,” It will also involve adoption, domestication, and selective breeding of Nile Perch, Common Carp, Milk Fish, Tilapia, and Catfish to increase the numbers available to small and large-scale fish farmers.”
The fisheries centre will also serve as a complimentary sources of production of raw materials for animal feeds and fertilizer for crop production.
The president further promised to finish the impending projects that were started by the government in Nyanza region.
Despite Azimio la Umoja leader, Raila Odinga being Nyanza’s favourite, President Ruto during his acceptance speech promised to serve, every Kenyan regardless of their political affiliation.
