President Ruto’s promise to pensioners in a bid to protect them from con men.
Speaking at Pension Sector Stakeholders Engagement in Nairobi, the head of state noted that the housing programme would help to curb the risk of conmanship in land buying.
The president argued that, the affordable housing programme would save pensioners and Kenyans seeking to buy land, from the tiresome process of searching for plots of land to buy.
The commander in chief said,”We want to make sure that we help Kenyans from being conned when looking for land or property in our housing programme. We will give you a ready product, an investment-grade product.”
The head of state further, commissioned the Sanduku Initiative, an initiative aimed at raising money for investing in government housing and industrialization projects.
President Ruto’s promise to pensioners, additionally is that he will work with local pensioners in raising funds for infrastructural development from the money accumulated from pensioners’ savings.
He stated that the government will borrow from the local pension schemes to fuel the government projects that are underway.
He said,” I am making you another offer, in our infrastructure we have several roads that we want to construct and some that are halfway done. I am ready to borrow from you and I know the ultimate beneficiaries are the citizens of our country.”
“How proud will you be if you have pensioners not only benefit but contribute to building the nation?”he posed.
Echoing the president, was the trade CS, Moses Kuria who said,”It is an initiative to fundraise monies for investing in government housing &industrialization projects.This fundraising initiative is through a collaboration with Pension Funds based on existing laws and through well established instruments that are familiar with pension sectors.”
