Reactions to a KMTC higher diploma being equated to Bachelor’s degree.
Over the weekend, The Kenya medical medical training college , took it to their social media, to announce that the Kenya national qualifications authority , had declared that their diploma can now equate to a university degree.
KMTC stated,”Finally a higher national degree obtained from Kenya medical training college( KMTC) is equivalent to a bachelor’s degree. All thanks to Kenya national qualifications authority.”
Reactions to a KMTC higher diploma being equated to Bachelor’s degree, have been witnessed; A huge debate on the socials has sparked.
Dr.Benard Karanja Hsc said,”It shouldnt be rocket science that a higher diploma can not be an equivalent of a degree. We all appreciate the skills and competence that KMTC graduates possess but a HND being equated to a degree is a weird conversation..”
Dr. Andrew Githiria stated,”KMTC Higher National Diplomas Equated to University Bachelor’s Degrees. Following the accreditation, KMTC’s HND now fall in the KNQA level 7 which makes them equivalent to the BScN, Certified Public Accountant (CPA) III, Certified Public Secretary (CPS) or Master Craft Person I.”
“It’s my view that the role of Diploma Nurses in the delivery of essential health services in Kenya is both critical & core, as we strengthen our health systems, we recognise the place of ALL levels of nursing in bringing care closer to the communities where they are needed most,” Dr. Githiria added.
David Osiany HSC stated,”I’m in agreement about the accreditation and acknowledgment of KMTC’s Higher National Diploma as a degree equivalent. The next one should be Kenya Institute of Mass Communication (KIMC). The quality of graduates from both schools is incredibly great!”
Abuga Makori commented,”We admit that KMTC offers quality courses due to competent practicals and exposure than similar courses in the university. However, their Dip shouldn’t be equated to a degree. Instead, now equip our universities to produce quality graduates in medical courses.”
