Student dies today after collision of a school bus and a lorry.
News headlines today have indicated that a student dies in a grisy accident.
The student is among the three who lost their lives in the accident that occurred in Nairobi- Meru highway.
The school bus was ferrying the students before it collided with the lorry at Meru county, Ntharene market.
According to reports the school bus changed direction before rolling on a cliff that was thereby.
The three who lost their lives include the bus driver, the student and a pedestrian that was on board.
According to the National transport and safety authority, road accidents have increased compared to the year 2021.
The reports by the national transport and safety authority show that in the month june, over 2000 people have lost their lives due to road accidents.
The police who arrived at the scene due to the build up mob , stated that their main concern on the roads is safety.
The police spokesperson stated that it is sad that most people are loosing their lives due to misuse of the roads.
He stated,”The National Police Service and the National Transport and Safety Authority have noted with concern an alarming increase in road traffic crashes incidences on our roads. The two agencies, viz NPS and NTSA further regret all the fatalities and injuries as a result of these unfortunate crashes.”
He went ahead to state that most of this accidents happen because of human factors. He went ahead to urge people to be careful when using the roads.
He stated,”It is regrettable that most crashes are a result of human-related factors. Motorists and other road users are therefore reminded to remain vigilant, cautious, and responsible whilst in charge of a motor vehicle, or whenever using a public road as pedestrians.
