Survivor in the Taita Taveta school bus , who was one of the teachers in the accident recounts last moments.
The teacher by the name, Josephat Nzikali stated that he was seated in the front seat of the bus on their way to Mombasa after attending a burial in Taita Taveta.
He further narrated that the journey was all smooth until a hitch occurred while descending down Joska hill.
Thereafter, the driver could not control the bus, that is when it rolled down the hill. The place is commonly termed as a black spot.
Speaking at the memorial service, the teacher said that his survival was a miracle , he can not explain.
He narrated,”Whatever I saw, I was in that bus seated in the front seat but here I am speaking to you with all my strength and breathing very well. I am the living testimony of the will of God.”
“We left the funeral at 4 pm, which is at the top of the mountain, and we started descending down the Joska Hill where our bus was involved in an accident,” he added.
Mombasa Governor, Abdulswamad who was at the service urged the students from Memo school to hold fast and put their best in the upcoming exams, irregardless of the sad time they are in.
Hon. Abdulswamad stated,”My appeal to the fraternity of Memon, let us remember all those who have gone before us by what they would wish to be remembered for.”
“This is not going to be an easy moment but the best that you can be able to give is honouring your teachers by delivering the good news of your superb performance which would become a motivation to all in the hospital,” he added.
