The police should join us- Azimio calls police to join in the mass action.
Embakasi East member of parliament, Babu Owino has called upon the police to join the mass action on Monday.
He cited that the police do a lot of work, but they are given peanuts in the name of salaries even as the protest for the high cost of living to come down.
He stated,”One of the reasons why we will swing on Monday is for the police officers’ Salaries to be increased. So the police should join us. High cost of living must come down.”
Supporting Babu Owino, was Azimio la umoja deputy principal, Martha Karua who also called the police to unite with Azimio allies in the quest for liberty.
Speaking at Kilifi county, Karua urged the police to stand down and let Kenyans exercise their rights.
Karua stated,”A message to the police. There is no relief for the police or the Army officers. Your needs are Kenyans’ needs. Let us unite and cleanse our country,”
“We want our police to stand aside and let Kenyans exercise their freedom and cleanse our country,” she added.
Martha further told the police that the protests will be peaceful and warned them against being coerced to cause disruption.
She stated,”Our demonstrations will be in accordance with the law; they will be peaceful, there won’t be violence, so don’t cause disruptions.”
“Do not be “bought” to disrupt the protests and hurt your fellow Kenyans,” she added.
