The president has no problem with photo ops- Gachagua responds to Ruto taking a photo with Raila.
The incident happened at Kasarani during the Keino classic marathon. The opposition leader showed up and they exchanged light moments with the president, William Ruto.
Speaking during a meeting with United Democratic Alliance (UDA) country coordinators in Nairobi, Gachagua stated that the opposition leader, Raila Odinga chased the president for a photo.
The deputy president highlighted that Raila wanted his team to use photos to create the narrative that he is working with the executive.
He stated,”You have seen him running after the President so that he takes a photo for his team to use. The president has no problem with photo ops. Even on Saturday, tell him we will be in Limuru. That is far as it will go.”
He outlined that regardless of the photos going round, the president is not interested in any handshake nor will invite the opposition to join the executive.
He stated,” I want to tell them Ruto is more strict about the handshake than I am. That experiment was the worst thing to happen in the politics of this country. Let them take their rightful position and keep the government in check,”
The second in command, revealed there are underway plans, for future elections that’s 2027. Consequently, they would be opening UDA offices across the country.
He stated that the offices will work like any other government office that’s from 8am to 5am.
