Trade CS Kuria announces establishment of Exportt processing zone in Three counties namely; Kirinyaga, Kilifi and Kwale.
In a gazette notice,the first EPZ was listed as Kiine/Thigirichi /3747 in Kirinyaga which measures at approximately 75 acres. The second is within the northern part of Mtwapa Creek measuring approximately 1.159 hectares in Kilifi County.
The gazette notice read,”All that parcel of land known as Title Number C.R. 77142, being L.R. No. MN/III/12493 (originally MN/III/8819), measuring approximately 1.159 hectares or thereabout, situated within north of Mtwapa Creek in Kilifi County. This gazette notice consequently revokes Legal Notice No. 164 of 2016.”
The trade cabinet secretary also listed a land measuring 127,000 square feet within Mariakani in Kwale.
This comes weeks after he declared export processing zones in Uasin Gishu and Busia counties. He thereafter launched 6,000 EPZ internships in apparel and pharmaceuticals which will be available through TVETs and polytechnics nationwide.
EPZs will impact the country in foreign investment, creation of employment opportunities and increasing the country’s exports.
