We have a president and a country- Senator Ojienda differs with Raila.
Kisumu senator, Tom Ojienda, has differed with his party leader on his view of William Ruto as the president of Kenya.
He stated that regardless of the stand of his party, the constitution fully recognizes William Ruto as the right sworn in president of the country.
He stated that if the opposition does not recognize the executive, then it is very easy to undermine the other arms of the government.
He stated,”In my mind and in my view, and this is the correct position, we have a president and a country. Otherwise, there can be no legislature or Judiciary.”
“Therefore, you cannot be an MP when you claim there was no election? How can I claim I am a senator when there is no framework of recognition,” he added.
He further defended claims that he had neglected the party rules and visited state house.
He stated that the visit was a strategic one because of was summoned on matters development in his county, Kisumu.
He added that he would have promoted his own interests by not attending the meeting, but he is working for the people of Kisumu, regardless of his political affiliation.
He stated,”The visit was a strategic one because I was summoned following the agreement on the various projects for Kisumu County. The choice was whether to attend the meeting for my people or refuse.”
He was speaking today in his county, Kisumu, during a bursary award ceremony. He collectively gave Ksh8.3 million to 782 needy students.
