United Democratic Alliance party, secretary general, Cleophas Malala has stated that the National Assembly speaker, Moses Wetangula and The prime cabinet secretary, Musalia Mudavadi, will not be coerced to join UDA.
This comes after six political parties under Kenya kwanza, gave heed to his call of folding, and decided to dissolve their parties and join UDA
Malala highlighted thar the two big wigs; Wetangula of Ford Kenya and Musalia Mudavadi of ANC, will still maintain their positions in Kenya kwanza, regardless.
He stated,” We have said we are not forcing anyone. If ANC and Ford Kenya feel they do not want to dissolve their parties, we respect that. We will go as they want and we will continue working with the leaders.”
Speaking in an interview at TV 47, Malala maintained that nothing will happen to any other political party under Kenya kwanza, who decided not to fold.
Wetangula has however, issued a warning to these political parties saying, they will have a difficult decision to make, when it comes to house elections
He stated,”When we will want to elect the Speaker of the National Assembly, they should allow ANC, Ford Kenya and UDA to field candidates. It shouldn’t be that we use certain conditions at the lower level and apply different terms at the top.”
Separately, Malala refuted claims that the ruling party was trying to kill multipartism by encouraging parties to join them.
He stated,”Multi partism will still be achieved via those other parties outside Kenya Kwanza. And we are not forcing anyone to dissolve their party to join UDA but there’s no need to have many parties with the same ideology.”
He additionally commended president Ruto for being honest and just; Despite Wetangula and Musalia not delivering the way they agreed on, president Ruto still kept the end of his deal.
He stated,” He is a President who believes in justice. He is a honest leader who once you agree over something he must fulfil.”
