We need you to save back home- DP Gachagua to Kenyans in Diaspora.
The second in command, has urged Kenyans living in foreign countries, to save their money in Kenya.
The deputy president cited that through this strategy, the government will be able to cut the borrowing Culture they have developed in China.
He good framework, the Kenya-Kwanza administration would stop borrowing and rely on the savings of Kenyans in diaspora.
He stated,”I want to ask for your help. We need you to save back home. In other countries where we borrow money, they give us savings from their countrymen.”
“If you agree, with a good framework, that is the money the government can borrow at interest instead of going to China. We don’t go to China because we like it. There is nowhere else we can borrow money,” he added.
He further revealed that the government has underway plans, to allow them to safely invest back home without worrying about being robbed by their relatives or unscrupulous real-estate developers.
He stated,”The remittances you send home are number one regarding foreign exchange earnings. You are ahead of coffee, tea and tourism. We know that you love home and plan for somebody to return home. We are aware that you would also want to invest in Kenya.”
“We know that most of you have been conned by relatives and friends, especially relatives. Many people have sent money to their relatives to buy them plots, and they take photos of the neighbours, and send them back. Others keep sending photos at every stage, but it’s a neighbour’s house. Then, you come back home to a shock. You feel devastated,” he added.
DP Gachagua maintained that a word from the government, is a sure bet that their monies are safe.
He stated,”The state department of Diaspora is working on this. A conversation is going on in creating a Diaspora bond. We want to create an investment forum guaranteed by the government for the people in the Diaspora so that you can invest safely and your savings are safe.”
“We will map out credible real estate developers to work with the State Department so it can build homes for people abroad, he added.
