We urge them to avoid generalizing churches because of Mackenzie- Clergy.
The Church and Clergy Association of Kenya( CCAK) has urged the country to stop using Mackenzie’s cultic incident, to turnish the name of pentecostal church.
The CCAK national chairman Hudson Ndeda stated that security personnel should be guided by Article 32 on the Freedom of Worship and stop temptations to overstep or usurp their powers over churches.
He stated,”We are committed to protecting the Pentecostal church hence urge sobriety to take precedence.”
Ndeda further reminded Kenyans that there are many preachers and pastors, who have done well by the Good book, Mackenzie’s case should not be used to spread propaganda over the church.
He however, condemned the activities that took place at Shakahola forest and Mackenzie’s church for that matter.
He stated,”We urge them to avoid generalising pastors and church leaders since we already have enough regulations,”
“As an umbrella body for Pentecostal churches, we want Kenyans to know that this was a church but a cult pursuing its selfish interests,” he added.
He further urged the government, to involve them, if they plan on making new regulations on worshipping and churches around Kenya.
He stated,”If, and we emphasise, if there must be any further regulations, parliamentarians or government must fully incorporate us.”
Preacher Paul Mackenzie is accused for spreading controversial teachings that led to the death of 109 of his followers.
Earlier this week, he was released from Malindi and again rearrested as investigations on his case, intensify.
