The head of state has promised to double the National youth service enrollment every year citing that through this, talents that youths can offer will be explored.
He added that this will be a good opportunity for youths especially those in rural areas, to get access to self sufficient opportunities .
Their skills and energy as the Kenyan youths, will be used in the future, to propel and transform the country Kenya.
He stated,”We will double the National Youth Service enrollment to 20,000 a year as a mechanism of building sufficient opportunities to millions of the youth — especially those in rural areas — to explore their talents, energy and skills so as to make meaningful contribution to the transformation of our country..”
The president was speaking today at the National Youth Service recruits passing out parade at the National Youth Service Paramilitary Academy in Gilgil, Nakuru County.
The president additionally stated that he had talked with the ministries, including the ministry of defence, to allocate the vacancies to Atleast 30 per cent to men and women interested to join the national youth service.
Asked the Ministries of Defence, Environment, Climate Change and Forestry, Tourism, Wildlife and Heritage, Interior and National Administration to allocate at least 30 per cent of their vacancies to NYS servicemen and women.
