Yesterday, the rally went sour especially in parts of Kibra Nairobi . Opposition leader, Raila Odinga has however, stated that he won’t back down and this is just a beginning.
He condemned the police saying their brutality on peaceful demonstrators only acts as a way to strengthen their resolve.
The Azimio la umoja leader stated that this officers were brutal because they were given orders from a higher power for instance he implicated the deputy president, Rigathi Gachagua.
He stated,”Our resolve, on the other hand, has grown from strength to strength. We want to assure the illegitimate regime that we will see them bright and early on Thursday. Nationwide.”
Raila highlighted that Gachagua had put in place vehicles disguised as ambulances that were used to ferry arounds guns, armoury and goons that caused mayhem to the protestors.
Various parts of the city including vandalism of his family property, East Africa Spectre in the Industrial Area happened yesterday.
On the other hand, Former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s family farm in Ruiru, Northlands City, was also invaded, sheep stolen, trees cut and later set ablaze by unknown intruders.
His convoy was also blocked by the police who lobbed tear gas canisters and sprayed protesters with water cannons as he made his way to Kawangware and Kibra.
Raila has insisted that no one will stop him until his demands are met as he outlined, he further stated that everything he is doing, is in line with the constitution.
He stated,”Hata wakijaribu kuzuia sisi, mto Nile lazima ifike Egypt (No matter how much they try to stop us, River Nile must make its way to Egypt.”
“Sisi tunafanya siasa ya kufanya sheria na katiba. Katiba unaruhusu maandamano kwa njia ya amani,” he added
