William Ruto swearing in; What to expect.
President elect, William Ruto swearing in exercise is to take place today on 13 september, 2022.
Swearing in of a president usually takes place, seven days after an election petition has been dismissed by the supreme court of law.
The exercise will be presided over by Kenya’s chief justice, Martha Koome .
Atleast 20 heads of state are expected to grace the ceremony including a presidential delegation from the United states.
The constitution dictates that the President-elect takes the Oath of Office between 10am and 2pm.
The swearing-in and inauguration shall kick off with the entry of president Uhuru Kenyatta aboard the Commander in Chief ceremonial vehicle, after which he shall inspect a full parade mounted by the Kenya Defence Forces.
Thereafter, the Judiciary lead by the Chief Justice Martha Koome shall preside over the swearing-in process after which President Kenyatta shall hand over the instruments of power to President elect, William Ruto, who shall also receive the highest award in the country which is Chief of the Order of the Golden Heart.
As this is underway, the Kenya Navy shall fire a 21 gun salute in honour of the new Head of State. His full position as the new president of Kenya shall take effect as president Uhuru officially downs his tools.
The car that President elect William Ruto shall depart the stadium in, shall then be fitted with the national flag to the right and his Standard to the left.
President Kenyatta shall then be handed his Standard by Chief of Defence Forces Robert Kibochi before joining the new President, William Ruto and his deputy, Rigathi Gachagua for a photo session.
Yesterday president elect, William Ruto visited President Uhuru.
Uhuru said,”As a hallmark of our democracy, I will tomorrow, before God and my fellow countrymen, hand over the instruments of power to our new President at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.”
