You have weakened the National Assembly- Raila calls out Ruto.
In a press release today, attended by the opposition leader and other Azimio la umoja diehard, Raila Odinga pointed fingers to the head of state saying you have weakened the national assembly.
Raila stated that in as much as parliament is weakened, the power still belongs to the people of Kenya who are now fighting to take it back.
He stated,”Mr. Ruto, you may have weakened Parliament, captured state institutions and co-opted the judiciary to consolidate power. But power ultimately belongs to the people, who are now taking it back and demanding direct accountability from you.That is the position.”
His sentiments comes as the government is expected to hold the bipartisan talks with the opposition on Thursday in the National Assembly.
A letter addressed to the National Assembly clerk read,”This is to request you to facilitate a meeting venue for talks on the Bi-Partisan process for a team of 6-8 members on Thursday 20th April 2023, at 11:00 am.”
The meeting will be attended by three members from Azimio and three from Kenya Kwanza.
Among those who will attend include National Assembly Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi, Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot, Senate Minority Leader Stewart Madzayo, Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo.
Ichungwah wrote,”By a copy of this letter to the Members, I hereby invite them to the same meeting at the venue your office shall communicate.
