Young boy left dead; According to preliminary reports, the 12 yr old boy was hit by a stray bullet, as police were trying to calm dowm the peotests.
According to video captured from the place, police are seen shooting at the protestors, an incident that was called out by several including the Wajir North Member of Parliament, Ibrahim Abdi Saney.
He stated,”The security apparatus must change attitude… They cannot respond with bullets when there is an issue.”
The protestors took it to the streets to decry the death of two men who allegedly died in an altercation with Kenya Wildlife Service officers on May 3. According to Reports, it is alleged that the two were accused of poaching.
The locals have been battling with the police, citing that the legal step should have been detaining them at a police station and thereafter arraigning them in court.
At the time of publishing, Smoke from burning of tyres was witnessed, as police are trying to control the angered protestors.
In the recent protests, Police were accused of using excessive force to dispatch protestors, a claim that Inspector general of police responded to.
He clarified that he does not pleasure from hurting an protestors, He jusr encourages the police to do their work.
He stated,” I do not derive any happiness from injuring anybody. I am human, but remember, I have to move in when I see a situation where two Kenyans are likely to hurt one another because of unnecessary rivalry.”
