3 Injured as restaurant wall collapsed on traders in Nakuru County.
It is reported that the wall of the restaurant by the name Kokeb restaurant collapsed in the mid afternoon of thursday.
A survivor of the incident, Rachel Wangeci revealed that structure of the Restaurant wall has been questioned for years but no action was taken.
She stated that she miraculously survived the deadly incident.
Rachel said,”I had a loud bang and just realised I was pushed forward. Three people were injured in the incident. One of them is a lady who sells candy while the other two are gentlemen who are shoe shiners.”
She added,”There was a crack in the wall but we never thought anything would happen because it has been there for five years. There were no efforts to repair the wall in five years.”
This is not the first time a building collapses; There has been a history of buildings collapsing on people before.
The national construction Authority stated that a survey is ongoing to identify the state of buildings and the contractors who work on them.
NCA said “There is an inquiry that happens for any collapse that occurs. We have conclusively conducted 21 inquiries by the NCA board. Out of those inquiries, 18 contractors have since been suspended.”
