Mixed reactions to Rigathi Gachagua’s speech after the swearing in.
The swearing in ceremony took place today on 13th September 2022.
After the handing over of power, the new deputy president, Hon. Rigathi Gachagua gave his speech.
However, mixed reactions to Rigathi Gachagua’s speech have been raised.
In his speech, Gachagua told president William Samoei Ruto that the journey ahead of him is not rosy or easy.
Gachagua further said from now on Kenyans should not fear talking on social media because of being recorded or intimidated by agencies.
He said,” I want to give a word on behalf of the president, you can criticize this government without fear or reprisal from state agencies.
Gachagua also stated that when president William Ruto was allowed to serve as a deputy president, his performance was extra ordinary.
Rigathi said, “I know I’m getting in shoes that are not easy fit.The performance of William Ruto when he was allowed to serve was on another level. Do not measure me to Ruto or you will be disappointed.”
Some of the netizens that reacted include Miguna Miguna who has expressed his optimism to the new government.
Miguna said,”An excellent speech from Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua. Yes, Kenyans must enjoy and guard all their rights. Speak boldly whenever you see or experience transgressions.
Another netizen stated that Ruto has the capacity to lead this country.
Netizen said,”Ruto can completely change this country if he chooses to, he has the brains, work ethic and capacity.
