Police boss Gachomo’s promotion nullified.
On friday, ex anti- terror police boss Gachomo’s promotion was recalled, this comes a day after he was promoted to head the internal affairs unit.
According to preliminary reports, Gachomo had close ties with the former directorate of criminal investigations head, Goerge Kinoti.
Insiders also lamented that Gachomo was not suited to lead IAU, which investigates police officers and recommends prosecution, as he was in charge of the Anti-Terror Police Unit in the past.
As of now, Current Internal affairs unit deputy director Esther Nganga, a commissioner of police who is also a lawyer has been ordered to take over as they are waiting for a substantive appointment.
“Gachomo was recalled and we will have the deputy director there take over for now,” Revealed an insider.
The internal Affairs unit is currently investigations a lot of cases against rogue police officers.
This comes after president William Ruto disbanded the special service unit.
Earlier, 21 police officers from disbanded Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI’s) Special Service Unit (SSU) were called in for questioning over the issue of the two missing Indians and their driver.
The two Indians are said to have been part of a team that had come to Kenya to join an Information technology taskforce for Ruto to run the election campaigns.
