Azimio leaders call for DPP haji’s resignation; This is after he revealed that he was forced to prosecute CS Aishwa Jumwa and DP Gachagua.
Martha karua, Azimio la Umoja deputy principal, stated the if a director of public prosecutions is forced to do something, then he is not fit to run office.
Karua said,”Any public officer, especially a senior, who says I was forced to do, or say reveals themselves to be morally unfit to hold office should resign or be fired.”
Martha added that swearing a false affidavit is a crime and that the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions should take action against any DCI officer and any witness who confessed as having perjured themselves.
She added,”Otherwise we are being treated to a charade orchestrated to sanitize the politically correct.”
Hon. Martha further stated that such matters should be brought before the courts of public opinion.
She went on to stated the DPP Haji shoul not be exception when it comes to the adherence of the rule of law.
Karua stated,”Why can’t ODPP let the courts of law and the court of public opinion make a determination upon tendering the evidence publicly in all these high-profile matters.”
Echoeing Martha karua was Homabay senator Moses Kajwang, who questioned on why DPP haji is still in office after he accused himself.
Kajwang’ posed,”What is DPP Haji still doing in office and yet he has violated the Constitution and the rights of persons who had no business appearing before the court?”
