President Ruto’s CBC taskforce spend ksh. 237 million in six months.
According to a gazette notice, president Ruto’s CBC taskforce has been allocated a total of 237 million to be spent in six months.
The taskforce duties include; Implementation of aspects guiding the competency-based approach including but not limited to value-based education, community service learning, parental empowerment and engagement.
The technology for curriculum delivery, improved learning outcomes and education management, public school categorization policies and implications on access, transition, and cost.”
The education reforms task force, headed by Munavu, was hand picked by the president, in the quest to ensure the above is done.
The notice read,”The department received Sh237million under Temporary committee expenses to facilitate the taskforce for 6 months ending March.”
However, this directive did not sit well with the law makers, who questioned how the 49-member team is spending the Sh237 million in just six months.
The National Assembly committee on education Vice Chair Malulu Injendi asked education ministry officials to give a list of a ctivities done by the task force.
Malulu stated,”Make us understand what activities are done by this team that they have been allocated Sh237 million, we want to know.”
Defending themselves was principal secretary Belio Kipsang, who stated that they will provide the committee with the account of activities the task force is doing.
Kipsang stated,”We will take you through terms of reference, work plan and budget.”
