Raila announces venue of tomorrow’s mass action.
Opposition leader, Raila announces venue of convergance in tomorrow’s mass action; He stated that protesters will be meeting at Nairobi Central Business District (CBD).
He affirmed that all Kenyans have a right to hold a peaceful demonstration and no one should be intimidated or fear to attend the protest.
He stated,”I’m calling on all Kenyans of goodwill to wake up very early in the morning and gather at the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD).”
“The mass action is your right, and there is no one who should by any means take that right from you,”he added.
Raila further issued a warning to all law keepers or the police men, against provoking citizens who will be exercising their right.
He however, stated that they won’t march to state house, only a few delegates will be sent to deliver a message to the president.
He stated,”We are people who respect and know the law. Our leader Wycliffe Oparanya wrote to the Inspector General of Police informing him that we would hold a rally.
“Those who will be able to come to Nairobi will come to Nairobi and those unable will hold their meetings wherever they will be,” he added.
This comes after Nairobi Regional Commander Adamson Bungei revealed that Azimio la umoja coalition failed to meet the requirements of the Public Order Act.
He stated,” We received two requests from Azimio and Nairobi business community to hold protests tomorrow. One late in the evening and the other this morning.”
“Both did not meet the legal threshold and were thus declined and the same was communicated to them in writing,” Bungei added.
Bungei further cautioned anyone who will take advantage of the protest to break the law or cause violence.
He stated,”We caution anyone that will break the law or breach peace during the procession shall be dealt with according to the law.”
