President Ruto offers 100 scholarships to Comoran students.
Speaking during the 48th Anniversary of the Independence of the Union of Comoros in Moroni.
President Ruto Pledged to stand with the Comoros as a proactive collaborator in our endeavours, including the facilitation of people-to-people exchanges, promotion of investment and sharing of experiences in sustainable tourism practices.
He outlined that Kenya and Comoros stand as partners in progress, committed to deepening their collaboration for the benefit of its citizens.
Some of the highlights during the head of state’s official visit to Comoros include;
1. Kenya & Union of Comoros abolish visa requirements for citizens, promoting interactions, trade & investments.
2. Kenya & Comoros to establish a Joint Commission for Cooperation fostering collaboration in Trade and Investment, Transport, Education, Tourism, Agriculture, Blue Economy, & Maritime Security.
3. President Ruto offers 100 scholarships to Comoran students. Comoran students will also henceforth pay the same fees as Kenyan students.
He stated,”To further strengthen our ties in the Education sector, we are working closely to allow students from Comoros to pursue higher education in Kenya and pay the same amount
of fees as local students.”
4. Union of Comoros considering joining East Africa Community following an invitation from President Ruto.
5. As Chair of African Union, President Assoumani pledges to work with President Ruto in championing AU reforms to meet Africa’s aspirations.
6. President Assoumani to attend the 5th Mid-year Coordination Meeting of the African Union and the African Climate Summit on July 13th-16th, 2023, and September 4th-6th, 2023, respectively in Nairobi.
7. President Ruto congratulates Comoros on ratifying AfCFTA.
