Interior CS Kindiki issues Major directives ahead of Wednesday Demonstrations; He highlighted that the government is ready to deal with anyone who is trying to cause mayhem.
He stated,”The Government will triumph in the war against terrorism and violent extremism. Special commendation and appreciation to all the security officers who are on the frontline tackling terrorists, bandits, and other armed criminals.”
Consequently, The cabinet outlined that protesting does not include looting and causing disturbances to people who are in business.
He called upon the law enforcement to let people protest if they are not armed and not doing it in peaceful way like the constitution dictates.
Kindiki stated,”Last Friday, during the mass protests, six people were killed and others injured, including security officers. Freedom of association and the right to demonstrate/picket do not include the right to cause mayhem and loot property.
“On Wednesday, anyone threatening to make the country ungovernable through mayhem, looting, chaos, and bloodshed will be dealt with firmly and decisively, in accordance with the law,” he added.
Notably, He revealed that phase of the Shakahola exhumation has started. They law enforcement believes there are more graves in the area and so far a total of 339 bodies have been found, even a the crackdown on rogue preachers continues.
He stated,”Phase four of the exhumation of bodies at Shakahola kicked off today. There are 40 more mass graves that could contain multiple bodies. So far, 339 lives have been lost in the Shakahola tragedy.”
“The Government will not relent in the crackdown on rogue preachers misusing the scriptures to mislead their followers,” he added.
