Ministry to administer special examinations in Jan 2024 for Candidates who failed to sit- CS Machogu
Speaking today while releasing KCPE 2023 examinations, Education cabinet secretary, Ezekiel Machogu stated that the government will accommodate 100 per cent transition for all candidates, by this ministry to administer special examinations in January for those who failed to sit for the examination.
He stated,” I wish to assure the country that the gov’t has enough capacity to accommodate all 1,406,557 candidates who took their KCPE examination in 2023. All parents should take advantage of the 100% transition policy to enroll their children in form 1.”
“The Ministry of Education will conduct a thorough mapping of those who failed to sit for their exams this year in order to administer a special examination in January 2023,” he added.
On matter campus education, Machogu stated that the rollout of the new funding model has been successful.
He stated,”HELB has released Ksh. 5.2 billion to first-year students in various public universities. We are confident the new funding model will restore our universities to a sense of security and sustainability.”
On his part, Prof. Julius Nyabundi, the KNEC Chairman stated that no irregularities were experienced in this year’s national examinations.
He stated,”This year’s KCPE was smooth and successful, a hallmark of credibility and integrity. We thank the government for the 39 years that KCPE has existed.”
2023 KCPE will the last class 8 examinations ever sat. Since 1985, 39 cohorts have sat the KCPE examination, with two major reviews made on the assessment tools and awarding criteria.
KCPE examination has been offered to over 26 million candidates and a total of 103,000 non-citizens have been certified after sitting for the examination.
