Kisii Governor elect Simba Arati to be sworn in next Thursday, this is according to the gazette notice by Kisii County’s secretary.
According to Patrick Lumumba, the county’s secretary, the swearing in ceremony will be held at Gusii Stadium from 1000hours to 1400hours ok the mentioned date.
The secretary further stated that the swearing in exercise will be facilitated by the assumption of office committee.
He said ““Following successful conclusion the general election and subsequent declaration of governor-elect, the assumption of office committee will facilitate handing over and prepare for the swearing in of governor and his deputy.
Secretary Lumumba further urged the resident of Kisii to maintain the peace they had during the election period up to now, handing over exercise.
The assumption of office governor’s act mandates that the handing over exercise to be conducted on the first thursday after the 10days of election results announcement have elapsed.
Justice Teresia Matheka and Stella Abuya are the lawmakers who have been assigned by chief justice, Martha Koome to preside over the handing over of the Kisii County Gubernatorial seat.
According to the Constitution of Kenya, the sitting governor is expected to hand over some instruments of power to the governor elect. This include: The Kisii County flag, The kisii County Coat of arms, The Constitution and the public seal.
After receiving the above instruments, the Governor elect will start serving his people immediately.
The council of governor is also requires to oversea an induction process of the new County leaders. This includes The senator, The Members of County Assembly and The women representative.
The above exercise, Induction process will mark the ushering of a new era in the County. The new leaders will be taught how they run their office, the County’s policies and how to adhere to them.
