As the world marks international women’s day, Raila’s message to women ahead of the mass action is that Azimio la umoja celebrates all women.
He congratulated the women for the limits they have had to push, to reach where they are currently. He further advocated for inclusion of women in every part of development.
He stated,”Today, we join the rest of the world in celebrating the achievements of women. From politics to business, science to the arts, women continue to break barriers and pave the way for future generations.”
This year, the theme is ; DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality.
It highlights role of innovative technology in promoting gender equality and other needs for girls and women in general.
On his part, President Ruto expressed how proud he is that the gender rule in the constitution is being achieved.
He added that his administration will ensure inclusion of women in every aspect of the country including political representation.
He highlighted that he is dedicated to ensure that all the barriers blocking women from attaining their full potential are removed.
He stated,”This is the reason why I have engaged parliamentary leadership in the spirit of bipartisan patriotic collective action to explore a viable constitutional path to promote equality and inclusion in political representation.”
“We also commit to removing systemic barriers and staying the course towards equity for all in Kenya confident that the full participation of women can help us realise the missing half of our country’s national product. Happy Women’s Day,” he added.
