Parts of the expressway that will be closed for Jamhuri festivities.
As Kenya is celebrating the 59th Jamhuri day, some parts of the expressway are to be shut from access ; Capital Centre and Haile Selassie entry points will be closed between 10am and 1pm.
Moja expressway company stated,”Motorists driving from Mlolongo to Westlands are advised to exit at Capital Centre or join the Nairobi Expressway from Haile Selassie.”
“Motorists driving from Westlands to Mlolongo are advised to exit the Nairobi Expressway at Haile Selassie or join from Capital Centre,” they added.
Interior Principal secretary, Raymond Otiende Omollo, stated that Nyayo stadium will be graced with more than 20,000 people.
He added that security has been set in place, for the well being of Kenyans who will attend the event.
He stated,”We expect to start very early, members of the public are expected to start streaming in from as early as 6am. Directions on traffic flow in and out of the stadium will be communicated.”
“In terms of security we have adequate preparations, we are working very closely with security personnel so Kenyans should not be worried about their security for those who will be coming to the stadium,” he added.
He encouraged Kenyans to attend the day this important day that marks the independence and freedom of Kenya from the colonials.
Otiende said,”We want to encourage and invite Kenyans to come and participate and those who will not be in Nairobi to attend the county celebrations in their respective counties.”
