Atwoli finally breaks silence regarding the presidential results. The COTU secretary general ,who has been an Azimio la Umoja stronghold, finally speaks after the Independent electoral and boundaries commission declared the president elect.
Speaking at a funeral in Meru county, the central organisation of trade union secretary general, Francis Atwoli stated that, Kenyans together with him will accept presidential results after the supreme court verdict.
Mr. Atwoli went ahead to state that for the sake of peace, whatever verdict the supreme court will reach at is the one the Azimio la umoja will accept.
Atwoli also stated that, Azimio la Umoja principals have adviced their leader, Raila Odinga to accept the decision that the supreme court will give after the hearing of the petition.
He said,”The way we advised Raila is that we have to pass the legal way and wait for the verdict and even President-elect William Ruto said he will accept the courts decision.”
Atwoli Francis further commented on the Kenyans who are thinking of Violence. He said that Kenyans should not look back to where they were during the independence time.
So many people lost their lives, he further maintained that people should keep preaching peace during this period.
He said,”Let the court do its work, and before then let us keep peace. Those talking about violence should look back when we were looking for independence, how things were, we are not ready to go back there.”
The Secretary general, Central organisation of trade Union has been Raila Odinga’s big supporters ever since the Azimio la Umoja declared that he will be running for presidency again.
Since the independent electoral and boundaries commission declared the president elect, Many people have been yearning for Atwoli to speak on the results.
The petition filed by Azimio la Umoja is awaiting a hearing headed by Chief Justice Martha Koome
